"Father wants to sell kidney".... the STAR 4th July 2008
This article will just come and disappear buried with other pertinent economic issues since our nation is more preoccupied with other Scandalous News.
But hey! A man who claims he was declared a bankrupt for a car loan he never took is resorting to a desperate measure – he wants to sell his kidney!. If this news is genuine then WTH is happening?
He said "I really hope someone will be interested to buy my kidney. I don’t care if the buyer is a local or foreigner, as long as I can sell it, so my family and I can continue with our lives"
We used to read this kind of sales happen in India but now has reach our Nation. India, a country labelled as young, vibrant, resurgent and everything that is music to the ears.
I hope to my countrymen in the power to stop the power fighting and let sit down focus on reducing the income disparity among people, irrespective of color skin and how the name is spelled.
Remember this Johnny Hates Jazz song - Turn Back the Clock?
(Chorus)
I wish that I could turn back the clock
Bring the wheels of time to a stop
Back to the days when life was so much better
Picture in my hand
Of a boy I still resemble
But I no longer understand
And as the tears run freely
How I realise they were the best years of my life
(Chorus)
Why can't I turn back the clock
Bring the wheels of time to a stop
Back to the days
Oh no no
I remember when
Life was so good
I'd go back if I could
Oh oh I wouldn't change a single day
Don't let the memories slip away
I wouldn't change a single day
Don't let the memories slip away
For the past few weeks; since the increase in fuel prices by lifting the govt subsidies, increase in price inflation, some were increased by 50%, food price inflation by 20%, 30%. Now the Central Bank is looking at 7% inflation rates (well, you know what is the real rates when the official rate was 3% recently). The urge to 'change lifestyle'. For me it's more of change life to no-style, just basic!
So the Johnny Hates Jazz - Life was so good... I'd go back if I could..... is very meaningful. I would go back to the time when our share market was at pre 8 March '08 level and sell off all my portfolios.... sad sad sadist.
This news I read in the local newspaper about "Casual Carpooling" which being practice in NY and few other cities in the US. All this effort is due to the increasing fuel price which hit majority of people around the world.
"Casual carpools" are informal car pools that form when drivers and passengers meet — without specific prior arrangement at designated locations. There are a number of Car Pool meeting locations, which are listed on the Net. This way it offers more convenient car pooling because no pre-arrangement or fixed schedule is necessary.
Now the big question is "Can we do this here in Malaysia? Are we ready to consider this option?
<<< This pooling is not Casual at all!
If you as me, I will never stop and pick up strangers. With the current rate of events nowadays, anyone can ended up on the first page of the next morning news. Our strange mentality of 'opportunists' adopted my many of us goes beyond mankind imagination.
To find a caring person who will lend his/her help without expecting any kind of return is almost like when Horton was looking for the tiny speck of WhoVille in the Dr Seuss' Horton Hears a Who when the evil Vlad threw the speck into the valley.
My 1st visit to this mosque was in September 2006. According to the locals, this mosque was built in the year 996, during the Liao Dynasty.
This place was later refurbished through the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. With 6,000 square meters, it combines features of the Classic Chinese palace with Arabian architecture.
On Jan 13th, 1988 the government declared this mosque as a key national historic place.
I am planning to make another trip to this Continent and will definitely stop to this place again given the chance.
How can we possibly get more out of ourself when time is limited?
A wise man told me, long time ago that "time is Finite, but the Energy isn't"....
Most of us will unanimously agree that 'time literally flies' when we are pre-occupied throughout the day with either mental or physical activities. There are only 24 hours within a day and it is finite resource. A demanding workload and deadlines at the workplace would most likely mean extra time of works, which at workplace is referred as overtime.
However, overtime work does not always equate to quality output and may even 'backfire' the company or the team - rather than effective and expanded output, the negative effect is that more is expanded out of the company's limited human and financial resources. Most of us respond to rising demands in the workplace by putting in longer hours, which inevitably take a toll on us physically, mentally and emotionally. That lead to declining levels of engagement, increasing levels of distraction, high turnover rates, and soaring medical costs.
Then, how can we cope with the heavy workload given the time constraints? While time is a finite resource, energy isn't. Our capacity to work is derived from our 4 main wellsprings: our body, emotions, mind and spirit. In each wellspring, energy can be systematically expanded and regularly renewed by establishing spirituals - behaviours that are intentionally practiced and precisely scheduled....(Tony Schwartz - Energy Project Oct 2007).
It is recommended that we change our "energy-depleting behaviours" and build and sustain our energy capacity. In fact, greater energy capacity makes it possible to get more done in less time at a higher level of engagement and with more sustainability. So guys... look for more energy and not time since the later is finite but the former isn't.
